- 30 May-2 June Pentecost Fair at Parthenay. A traditional fair takes place on the town square. A parade takes place late on sunday evening.
- 31May Vide grenier at St Chartres. A lovely village with a babbling brook running through it and a good walking area.
- 13-14 June The European Championship of the Highland Games will be hosted in Bressuire. The Games kick off at 1.30pm on Saturday, a town centre parade follows at 2pm and dancers from twin towns in Ireland and Scotland will be perfoeming in the afternoon. A pipeband competition starts at 4pm and entertainments continues into the evening. The 2007 world champion Gregor Edmunds will be among the throwers.
- 14 June Vide Grenier at Louin.
- 14 June - Sport for All - A chance to take part in lots of sports from fishing to canoeing, from petanque to beach volleyball. Start the day at Lac du Cebron (8kms) and be bussed to other events. Food available. From 10am-6pm. If you like sports, you will enjoy this. www.jaimelesport79.com
- 20 June - The centre of Thouars is taken over by streets of stallholders and carbooters. A good atmosphere and usually a bargain, or two. From 8 am to 8pm.
- 27 & 28 June An art festival and competition takes place in the centre of St Loup Lamairé. The village streets are filled with artists for the weekend all painting different aspects of the pretty colombage houses and cobbled streets. Local houses are also opened as galleries displaying the work of local artists.
4-14 July (2pm onwards)The Festival of Games at Parthenay. The town is transformed into a huge games arena. More than 3000 games line the streets and you are invited to play as many as you like. There is also a casino on some evenings.
- 9-14July - A Festival of Music and Dance of the World in Airvault. Evening events taking place in Airvault and surrounding villages. Some concerts free, some have a charge. A wide range of world music from Creole to local Poitou. Ask for more details.
- 2 August - Cooking of the giant Cassolet at Pierrefitte. An annual event with music and dancing and a late night disco.
- 6 August - An Evening Food Producers Market at Airvault. Bring your own plates and cutlery to enjoy the evening meal. From 6pm onwards.
- 9 August Vide Grenier (car boot) at La Grimaudiere
- 20-24 August Classical Music Festival. Held in some wonderful venues, such as the church at St Loup. Five seperate concerts take place over the 5 nights at 8.30pm. Concerts range from Deboussy to Quintets with a piano. Enquire for further details.
30 August - Boussais' annual village fete and vide grenier (car boot sale). Usually a lively event with a Burlesque comedy show this year. Looking for a hidden gem is part of the fun. Braised hock of ham lunch and an all day bar. 8am-6pm.
- 6 Sept Vide Grenier - Brocante at La Peyratte (5km from Parthenay) 7am-7pm
